University-to-University Partnerships
Education is a cornerstone of Indonesia's development plans. While the U.S.
government has become a partner in the effort to improve primary and secondary schools, university-level education
remains important. Fortunately, partnerships with institutions from around the world have enabled Indonesia to grow and
develop its university system.
In particular, university-to-university programs have proven highly successful.
Student and faculty exchanges, library donations, joint research projects, cooperative academic programs-all have led
to continuing mutual benefit.
Recently, the Ministry of Education selected 50 promising Indonesian universities to highlight to potential partners abroad. Of the country's 2684 institutions of higher educations, these 50 were judged
to have a promising balance of academic credibility and an eagerness to develop relationships with institutions overseas.
