Education Division
The Education Division is committed to expanding cultural and institutional ties between people and universities in Indonesia and the United States. Some of our many activities are highlighted below.
University - to - University Programs
Our office believes that there is no better way to understand a region or culture than to visit it. That is why we are working to expand partnerships and exchange programs between universities in Indonesia and America. For a list of 50 international-ready Indonesian Universities, please click here. For more information about university-university programs, please contact Mr. I Made Djangkuak at imade@embassyofindonesia.org or (202) 775-5234.
Darmasiswa Scholarship
Every year, the Embassy selects a number of American students for a scholarship. The Darmasiswa Scholarship, as it is called, gives the students a free education in an Indonesian university. Interested in Indonesia’s language, culture, or arts? Then click here!
Bahasa Indonesia Classes
Due to popular demand, the Embassy has expanded its language offerings. Now, the division holds two free courses in Bahasa Indonesia at the beginner and intermediate level. For more information, please click here.
Cultural Events
The Embassy regularly sponsors and co-sponsors cultural events in the Washington DC area. Members of the public are especially welcome. For a listing of upcoming events, please see the center column of the Embassy’s homepage, where announcements are updated regularly.
Traditional Music Classes
Indonesia’s rich artistic history is captured in its music. As part of our efforts to share our culture with Americans, the Embassy offers free music classes in Balinese gamelan, angklung, and kolintang. If you are interested in learning attending one of these classes, please contact Mr. I Made Djangkuak at imade@embassyofindonesia.org or (202) 775-5234.
