INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK FOR INDONESIA-US ECONOMIC COOPERATION
In each of the bilateral summit in 2005 and 2006, the leaders of Indonesia and the
US have put substance to the relationship by laying the foundations to further promote and facilitate trade and
investment.
A notable framework to further these goals is
through the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), signing MOUs on trade in textile and apparel goods
and illegal logging.
The recent Indonesia-US talks agreed to strengthen TIFA and establish working
groups intended to deepen economic relations in four key areas: intellectual property rights, agricultural and
industrial goods, services and investment.
