GM Indonesia Outlook Positive

JAKARTA: PT General Motor Auto World Indonesia managing director Mukiat Sutikno said Wednesday his company were targeting an increase of 100 percent in 2008 in sales of Chevrolet cars.

"Hopefully we can sell 3000 cars this year," he said at the launch of a new Chevrolet automobile called the Captiva Diesel 2.0 VCDi.

In 2007, the company sold a total of 1,368 cars in Indonesia with Captiva comprising around 70 percent.

It is also planning to launch the new Optra Magnum and Chevrolet Aveo for the Indonesian market this year.

PT. General Motor Auto World Indonesia is a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. Besides Chevrolet, GM Corp. also holds numerous brands including Buick, Cadillac, GM Daewoo, Holden, HUMMER and Opel.
