Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Headquarters of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have agreed to cooperate in cracking down on corruption in the country.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between TNI Commander Gen. Djoko Santoso and KPK Chairman Antasari Azhar at TNI`s Cilangkap headquarters here on Friday.
"TNI and KPK have inked a memorandum of understanding in August 2005, which in principle contained an agreement on cooperation and coordination in fighting corruption efficiently and effectively," General Djoko Santoso said.
In the meantime, the KPK chairman said that the commission’s task was basically to act upon and to prevent corruption, and focused on upholding justice, rather than law enforcement.
"Now, the KPK is studying the legal aspect of corruption focused on the roots and causes of the offense," Antasari Azhar said.
