Berlin - Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said Indonesia will be trying to win the European market share, especially of German tourists, in the world`s biggest tourism fair, ITB Berlin, at Messe Berlin from March 10 to 14.

"I come to Berlin with a high optimism," Jero Wacik told London`s Antara correspondent following a dinner at the official residence of the Indonesian ambassador in Berlin Tuesday.

The minister was in the company of chairman of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR) Prof dr H Mahyuddin Ns and House Deputy Speaker Rully Chairul Anwar and Destination Development Director General Firmansyah Rahim, and Foreign Promotion Director I Gde Pitana.

Last year European tourists to Indonesia reached 700,000, which are expected in the conducive domestic situation to reach one million.

"With hard work, and a favorable security situation, Indonesia may attract as many as one million European tourists, including Russians," he said.

Jero Wacik also said that Garuda Indonesia`s plan to resume its flights to Europe in June this year increased the optimism.
