On January 6th, 2011, Ambassador Dr. Dino Patti Djalal paid a courtesy call to Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Appropriations Committee and President Pro Tempore of US Senate.
During the meeting, Ambassador Djalal briefed the Senator on the state of bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest political and economic developments in Indonesia. Ambassador explained that the relations between the two countries have been elevated to a higher plane with the visit of President Barack H. Obama to Indonesia on November 9-10, 2010. The scope of relations between the two nations has been broadened with the establishment of Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and exploration of new fields of cooperation between the two nations.
Ambassador Djalal also expressed appreciation of Senator Daniel Inouye's steadfast friendship and goodwill towards Indonesia and expressed gratitude for Senator's role in co-sponsoring a positive resolution on Indonesia (S.Res.224, July 24, 2009).
Ambassador Djalal further stated that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono looks forward in taking part in the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Hawaii in November this year.
Finally, Ambassador Djalal expressed his determination to expand Indonesia's friends and partners in the U.S. Congress.
